When & Where: Sat July 11, 2026 @ Scottish Hills

The sign up for the Cary City Meet will be opening soon! PLEASE SAVE THE DATE!!

We hope to have many swimmers register!! Hopefully this means we can score some big points like we did last year; it was such a blast and our team scored 4th out of 24 swim teams, which was amazing!!

The meet will take place at Scottish Hills Recreational Club (1423 Tarbert Dr, Cary, NC 27511).

What is the Cary City Meet??

The Cary City Meet is an extra large swim meet with many area pools in attendance. Ages 10 and under swim in the morning, and 11+ swim in the afternoon. Kids from all the local pools are placed into heats according to their personal best swim times, so every race is appropriately challenging and fun for each child. YOU select which events your child swims in, so it will only be races that they want to swim. (Note: There is a small fee per individual race.) And then the top 16 relay teams and the top 16 kids in each age group/stroke earn points for their pool and are awarded ribbons or medals! In 2025 there were 24 local swim teams at the event, and the SV Killer Whales finished 4th!! We had 39 swimmers who swam on point-winning relay teams and 23 swimmers who scored points in individual events

The relays are also super fun at this meet. In years past we had too few kids in some age groups to be able to form a relay team, and it left some kids incredibly sad. Relay teams are also a great way to score easy points; frequently there are not 16 pools with full relay teams and so if you have a relay team, you get points! We would LOVE to get enough kids per age group to form a relay team for each age group this year, so please talk to your fellow swimmer families and see if enough of you can commit to form relay teams! Please note that there is NOT a fee to participate on a relay team.

This event also has decorated tents, optional dress-up according to your tent theme (you are NOT required to dress up!), food trucks, music, goodie bags, games, etc. It's kind of like an all-day carnival swim meet. :)

The more swimmers we have, the more fun the day is. If you have any questions at all, please email our Cary City Meet coordinator, Kara Snoke, at [email protected]

Extra Sign Up Details

  • Individual events typically cost $6 each. Fees will be collected at a later date after sign up. 6&under swimmers can swim up to 2 individual events (free and back only - please note that these are 25 yards not 15 yards). All other swimmers can swim up to 3 individual events (among the typical 4).
  • Relays are free to join. Swimmers can mark themselves as available for relay teams but not sign up for individual events! We will do our best to fit all swimmers into a relay event if they want to swim in one. Sometimes we are unable to put all swimmers in a relay due to uneven counts of swimmers, but we try our best!

Note: Late entries for individual events are allowable but the cost will be doubled (typically $12 per individual event). Late entries for relay teams may not be able to be accommodated - we will do our best. Please email Kara at [email protected] for late entries after the deadline.

Volunteer Roles

It takes a LOT of people to run this meet, so we will need parent volunteers!! Job entries are open, but we do not know the actual assignments for our pool yet, so the current signup is for a generic volunteer role. Please sign up to volunteer if you can (in SwimTopia at the normal location for a meet). Last year we had to fill around 16 volunteer roles to be able to participate in the meet. Actual volunteer roles and the option to choose your specific role will come closer to the time of the meet. If you have any concerns or restrictions regarding volunteer roles, please email Kara at [email protected]

Scoring Details

At Cary City Meet, swimmers are put into heats in order from slowest seed time to fastest seed time, which is the opposite of a typical summer swim meet. Heat 1 contains the swimmers with the slowest seed times or no seed time available, and the largest heat number contains the fastest swimmers.

Every race at Cary City Meet counts! Finishes are determined by all times and there is no main event/heat. No matter what heat a swimmer is in, if they score in the top 16, they get points for our team. Points are distributed as follows:

  • 1st place Individual: 20 points, Relay: 40 points
  • 2nd place Individual: 17 points, Relay: 34 points
  • 3rd place Individual: 16 points, Relay: 32 points
  • 4th place Individual: 15 points, Relay: 30 points
  • 5th place Individual: 14 points, Relay: 28 points
  • 6th place Individual: 13 points, Relay: 26 points
  • 7th place Individual: 12 points, Relay: 24 points
  • 8th place Individual: 11 points, Relay: 22 points
  • 9th place  Individual: 9 points, Relay: 18 points
  • 10th place Individual: 7 points, Relay: 14 points
  • 11th place Individual: 6 points, Relay: 12 points
  • 12th place Individual: 5 points, Relay: 10 points
  • 13th place Individual: 4 points, Relay: 8 points
  • 14th place Individual: 3 points, Relay: 6 points
  • 15th place Individual: 2 points, Relay: 4 points
  • 16th place Individual: 1 point, Relay: 2 points

Note: Only ONE relay team per club in each event may be awarded points and the corresponding medals/ribbons.
