Notes for tomorrow's Red White Swim Meet
Happy Monday night, team!
We are SOOOOOO excited to have our Killer Whales back swimming in the Shepherd's Vineyard pool tomorrow night!!
Our RED-WHITE meet has traditionally a “dress rehearsal” for the TSA dual meets that follow.
- Our last R/W meet was 2 years ago...so we probably have a lot of rust to knock off from missing a season,
- We have some new procedures this year in response to Covid-19, AND
- We are using Meet Maestro software to run the meet for the very first time tomorrow night.
All that to say, let’s all please be patient with each other as we figure things out for the 2021 season. There is a big team of volunteers who have been working really hard behind the scenes for a few months to get us to this point. Tuesday night will probably not run perfectly smoothly…..BUT isn’t it wonderful that we are having a swim season at all this year!!!!!
- No swimmer numbers this year. Please use a black sharpie to write your swimmer’s last name on their back or arm instead this year.
- Warm ups - please have swimmers at the pool, ready to swim by 5pm
- Meet scheduled to start at 6pm
- No parking in the pool parking lot - use neighborhood streets, but do NOT park along Chimney Hill Drive as cars have been regularly ticketed there in the past
- Swimmer heat sheets - will be posted in the parking lot - please check the posters to see what heats your swimmer is swimming
- Families set up in parking lot - bring shade, chairs, blankets, water, flip flops for tender feet, toys for little kids, extra towels and warm clothes for cold swimmers after the sun goes down. Plan to eat at the food trucks but also good to bring snacks for hungry swimmers.
- Listen out for the announcements about when age groups are to start lining up with the kid pushers. We will NOT be running around trying to find your kid and they will miss their heat if they are not in the right place at the right time.
- Spirit Wear for Sale - bring cash, checks or Venmo app on your phone to kit yourselves and your kids out in the best Killer Whales gear!!
If you are new to swim meets, PLEASE reach out and ask for help. Most every parent has felt confused and overwhelmed when they first started on swim team - our established parents are all happy to help the new families.
See you at the pool!
Go Killer Whales!!
