Volunteering Sign Up- May 9th

Hello Killer Whale Families!

I have Volunteering News regarding points and sign up. Future emails won’t be so long, please take a moment to read through the details below.

Thanks for your patience as we try this new process. Having a clear idea of our family count is extremely helpful for planning our 2022 season.

Here are the details!

  • 101 Killer Whale families
  • 203 Swimmers

Volunteer Needs:

  • 3 Home Meets + 1 Red White Meet=56 volunteers each meet
  • 3 Away Meets=32 Volunteers each meet

The above are only the jobs we need you all to sign up for, it doesn’t include the 21 people who have set jobs at meets or those with ongoing season jobs.

320 Total Volunteer positions for all 7 Meets

Each family will need to work 4 shifts

  • Jobs will open Monday, May9th at 10am
  • Please sign up for your 4 shifts by May 23
  • If you have a job/meet preference, login ASAP for the best selection
  • Once everyone signs up, I’ll assess our vacancies for the first 3 meets
  • Do your best to sign up for meets you know you can attend
  • Please don’t sign up for a meet you already have a vacation scheduled or have tentative plans scheduled
  • There are 7 meets to work your 4 shifts
  • Instructions to sign up for shifts - SVKW website
  • Volunteer Job Description Information and a quick explanation of shifts- SVKW website

I understand life throws curveballs, if you sign up now and things change, you can drop and pick up a different shift. Jobs will close a week before each meet because surprise cancellations make meet days hard. This doesn’t mean you can’t switch, just that you must email me so I can prepare the alternate or do a call-out to the team.

Looking to do something outside of meets to earn your points? Email me! The board needs help with several season jobs or to shadow outgoing board members.

Lastly, your family must have the 4 shifts designated for your swimmer to practice or participate in swim meets. Please understand this is a rule set because summer swim requires so much family support. We have a lot of families working extra because families aren’t doing their share. Sign up now for the jobs you like and the meets you know you can attend.

Volunteering opens Monday, May 9th at 10am

6&U Families. Working shifts can be hard for you since your swimmer is done after breaststroke. These are great jobs for 6&U families:

  • Merchandise Table
  • First half ribbon hand out
  • Kid Push 6&U
  • Concessions first half
  • Meet set up (arrive 4:15 and done by 5pm)
  • Second half shift- some families find having one adult take the young one home and the other stay to work makes meets easier
  • Or….ask me about jobs you can do outside of meets to earn your points.

I’m looking forward to another fun summer cheering on our Killer Whales! Please let me know if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Anne Hensley
