6/7 Red/White Meet Details
Warm-Up will begin at approximately 5:30pm and the meet starts at 6pm.
We are looking forward to this fun evening. There will be food and drinks available for purchase as well as Killer Whale Spirit Wear! The Red/White Meet is a great opportunity to get a feel for how the meets are run. Since this is the first meet and an intrasquad meet (we are not swimming against another team), it is like our team’s “dress rehearsal” and we use this opportunity to work out any issues that may occur. It is like a time trial for the swimmers.
Volunteer Job Openings: We still need a few roles filled for this meet ( merchandise table, timers, and clean up shifts)
Please remember to bring: your swimmers goggles, swim caps, snacks, lots of beverages to stay hydrated in the hot sun, a couple of towels, folding chairs for you, sunscreen, warm clothes for chilly nights and a few small toys/activities to entertain your swimmer. Also, please have a black sharpie to write your swimmer's number on their arm.
Volunteers: Check In/Arrive early
All meet volunteers will receive an email regarding specific job start times and group meeting times. Please refer to your job signup schedule (my account in swimtopia) for your assigned dates & jobs. Make sure you arrive in plenty of time to check in and fulfill your full obligation. If you cannot fulfill your obligation, contact Anne Hensley [email protected] as soon as possible.
Heat Sheets
Upon arrival at the pool, check the line-up sheets which are posted by the diving boards to find out the events in which your swimmer(s) will be participating.
Swimmer Numbers
We are working to get this information to you. If you have not received this prior to the Red/White meet, it will be provided to you when you arrive.
Swimsuits and Caps
NO YEAR ROUND, HS TEAM CAPS, or SUITS at TSA meets This is against TSA rules and may lead your swimmer to be disqualified. The spirit of this TSA rule is that non-year round swimmers won't be intimidated when they see another swimmer wearing a year round cap or suit. Please do not risk being DQ by doing so.
SVKW Swimmers should wear solid black suits with a SV swim cap to meets.
Kid Pushers
10 and under swimmer age groups will be assigned 2 Kid Pusher volunteers at each meet to help them line up at the correct time and in the correct order, and then escort the group to the Clerk of Course prior to their scheduled swim. The Kid Pushers hold up signs so that you can see where each age group should be lining up.
It is NOT the Kid Pushers' job to go looking for your kids**.
**Swimmers, please stay near your age group flags so kid pushers can find you easily. Parents, please encourage your swimmers to sit with their age-group friends and not play on the playground. The Kid Pushers' are NOT expected to go around the pool trying to round up missing kids. Please keep an ear and eye out to make sure your kids are close to the lineup area when they need to be starting to line up for their races. This allows for a faster and more efficient meet.
Swimmer Times
Swimmer Times - will be available on the Swimtopia app Wednesday. You can find your swimmer’s info there and times for all other events (post-meet email will have instructions on where to look).
We are all human and we recognize that times can sometimes be recorded or entered incorrectly. If you see a time that seems wrong or missing, and you know the correct information, feel free to email the Head Timer ( [email protected] ) to supply that information.
Spam Filters
Please check your spam filters to make sure that e-mails from SV Killer Whales and Swimtopia are not blocked. E-mails are the main way the team will communicate very important information with you.
Withdrawing Your Swimmer
Registration fees are refundable through Friday June 10th.
Please email us at [email protected] if you need to withdraw your swimmer.
Because the team has to absorb a number of fixed costs regardless of enrollment, no refunds will be honored after June 10th.
Other Dates to Remember
- 6/13 Morning practices start
- 6/14 Medfield (Home)
- 6/20 Papa Murphy’s Spirit Night at Apex store
We can't wait to see all the amazing and fast swims at the Red/White Meet. If you are new to swim meets, PLEASE reach out and ask for help. Most every parent has felt confused and overwhelmed when they first started on swim team - our established parents are all happy to help the new families.
Go Killer Whales!
