Hello Killer Whales,
We are thankful to the weather gods who smiled on us Tuesday night and allowed us to get through enough events to have an official meet after we completed all of the Breaststroke heats.
With dedicated hard work in practices, our swimmers are getting stronger and faster, but the Sea Lions got the better of our Killer Whales this week, with a final score of Sea Lions - 238, Killer Whales - 136. We are looking forward to returning to our home pool for our final two Tuesday night meets of this season.
Congrats to our Swimmers of the Week, Wynnie Synan (8) & Benny Robbins (5) who have earned a red swim cap! Click here for past winners and SOTW Criteria.
Congrats to our Double Winner (6/unders)
Wyatt Fink (6) - first in 15yd Freestyle & 15yd Breaststroke
Congrats to our Triple Winner (7/up)
Lauren Nance (16) - first in 50 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke & 50 Breaststroke

A Note about TSA rules for inclement weather:
When weather threatens to shut down a meet, it is always a balancing act between (1) trying to get through enough main events to officially call the meet and avoid having come back to finish the meet the next day, and (2) not disappointing kids and families who showed up excited to swim at the meet. We understand that swimmers in main events want to get on and score points for the team, and also that swimmers and parents who are not in main events are often deflated and disappointed that they didn’t get to swim and try to improve their times. As this is summer swim, both teams agreed to try to maximize participation for all swimmers on Tuesday night.
Thankfully, this is the first time we have had to deal with the threat of inclement weather this season. For those who are interested, here are some highlights of the TSA rules re inclement weather.
* It is the pool manager's responsibility to determine if the pool should be closed due to inclement weather. If the pool can be opened safely, the meet will be swum.
We would like to assure everyone that the Scottish Hills pool manager was closely monitoring the location of the storm on Tuesday night to ensure everyone’s safety. The lightning flashes are bright at night, but the Scottish Hills pool team used their discretion to allow the meet to continue longer as the lightning was not close to the Scottish Hills area.
* A meet may not be delayed or interrupted for more than 60 minutes due to inclement weather. If the meet is interrupted more than once during an evening because of inclement weather, the meet will be stopped.
* If a meet is stopped due to the weather, it will be declared over, if on the originally scheduled evening, all breaststroke events have been completed, or if on the inclement weather day, all backstroke events have been completed. The winner is determined by the points accumulated at the end of the last completed stroke.
* If all breaststroke events have not been completed on the meet’s originally scheduled day, the meet will resume on the following day
