Volunteer Update- Please Read
Hi Parents,
By now you have had the chance to see the various volunteer roles and the large number of parents needed to run a meet and swim season. It takes many and we need more help next year.
We already know our needs for the next season: Starter, TSA Representative, Concessions, Merchandise, Ribbons, Meet Maestro/Time Entry, Volunteer Coordinator Helper, Clerk of Course & Sponsorship/Fundraising.
Our team has grown and we need your help to fill these vacancies or help the existing people.
With two remaining HOME meets, this is the best time to talk to the leads and see the job in action. It is easier to get an idea of duties when you see it LIVE vs explaining the job in winter when our SVKW brains are “off.
Brief descriptions are below, please let me know if you’d like more information.
Starter- We are extremely fortunate to have Corley & John as starters for so many years. While they plan to return, we need to prepare for the graduation of their swimmer. Corley is USA Swimming certified to train you. HOME meets only.
TSA Representative- 2nd person needed. Attend TSA meetings before the season starts and communicate updates to the swim team board. You also coordinate the meet planning with the opposing team (parking, warm up times) and are the on deck liaison at home and away meets.
Concessions - 2 people needed. Coordinate food & ice delivery plus day of planning. HOME meets only.
Merchandise- Lesley B. needs help to sell at HOME meets plus a few other days prior to the season starting. Additional duties will include helping count inventory and getting merch organized once they arrive.
Ribbons- 1 or 2 needed. Duties are before and during the meet and can be distributed amongst the coordinators. There are some very time sensitive deadlines involved.
Meet Maestro- help with time entry during home and away meets. There may be day of tasks too. We will train you on the computer system. Attention to detail is important!
Volunteer Coordinator Assistant- help with the reports and spreadsheets I track throughout the season and share the email load of 129 families.
Clerk of Course- a second person to work with Richard and help control the flow of the meet.
Sponsorship & Fundraising- Contact local businesses to sponsor the team and coordinate fundraising projects, such as car wash vouchers, spirit nights (papa murphy, fresh local ice cream and more).
Please ask me or any of the board members if you have questions.
Thank you!
Anne Hensley
