Hello Killer Whales!

This Tuesday, July 12, we will be hosting Apex Breakers at Shepherd's Vineyard. HOORAY for a return to home meets! This will be exciting to watch.

Emergencies after the sign-up deadline:

By now, you should have declared your swimmer for tomorrow's meet. If an emergency arises due to sickness, etc. after the Sunday noon deadline and a child will be missing all or part of the meet, please contact the coaches as soon as possible by e-mailing them at: [email protected]

Please be considerate to our coaches, volunteers & your child’s teammates.

When you arrive at the meet, please double-check the relay list to see if you're swimming. If you signed up by mistake and can’t swim, make sure you arrange a replacement with the coaches before just skipping it.

Additionally, if something happens during the meet (e.g. injury or weather delay), and you need to leave early please be considerate and make a point of walking over to the coaches and letting them know that your swimmer cannot swim or is leaving early. It is not fair to the other swimmers, volunteers or coaches when they have to desperately run around looking for a swimmer because they left early without informing anyone. It can also cause a delay to the start of a Heat while they rush to fill in gaps. So Please give advance notice if you have to leave early!

Pre-Meet Warm Up + Volunteer Schedule

Our SVKW Warm-up times for home games start at 4:55pm. Arriving earlier than this to get set up and ready to go on time is strongly advised. Here's the timeline for when you need to be where!

  • Volunteers, check-in when you arrive:
  • 4:55 pm: 10&Under warm-up
  • 5:10pm: 10&Up Warm-Up
  • 5:45pm: Meeting for timers and in the baby pool area
  • 5:25pm: Team cheer with all swimmers.
  • 5:55pm: 7-8 relays line up, all other relay swimmers should stay close by and be ready to go.

Meet Against Apex Breakers Information

Volunteer Needs: We still need the following positions filled for this week: If you cannot fulfill your current obligation, contact Anne Hensley [email protected] as soon as possible.

  • Clerk of Course- Help with 10&U groups behind the blocks
  • Meet Clean up- 1 person
  • Place Judge- 2 people
  • Ribbon handout 2nd half- 1 person
  • Timer- 1st half 1 person

Parking at Home Meets: Please remember to leave our parking lot open for the visiting team.

When you park along the street, please do not block any residents' driveways or hydrants. Carpooling is highly recommended due to the limited parking.

Seating: Seating is available around the pool and outside of the fence. We set up the white tents in hope that the kids will use them as a place to sit in-between their heats so grab your towel and water bottle and come hang out with your team! Make sure you stay on deck and are ready to go when they announce your event. It’s not the kid pushers job to come find you.

Concessions: We’ll have Pizza, Bojangles, and drinks available for sale. The Snack bar will also be open (see note below about using Venmo)

Spirit Wear Table: 2022 SVKW spirit wear is available at this meet!! We will accept payments in the exact amount of cash, checks and Venmo (make sure you use the SVKW Venmo Account).

Reminder for our Big Whales

Please remember that TSA rules do not allow for a Big Whale kid catcher to cross the 15 yard plane. If the kid catcher reaches OVER the yellow rope, the swimmer is disqualified, so stay BEHIND the rope and let them swim to you across it unless they are in distress and in need of a safety rescue.

Tidal Wave Auto Spa Car Wash Voucher

They’re here! Tidal Wave Auto Spa has once again supplied us with vouchers to sell to raise money for our SVKW Swim Team. Purchase your $20 Car Wash Voucher for only $10 at our Spirit Wear Table (or from the lifeguards anytime the pool is open). These go fast so if you want one, pick them up at tomorrow's Meet. Use the flier attached to share with family and friends.

Raffle Tickets for Awards Night Drawing

We are also pre-selling raffle tickets next to our Spirit Wear Table for the Awards Night. We'll draw winners during the ceremony on 7/26 (You do not need to be present at the Awards Night to win).  Our Grand Prize is ONE free SVKW Swim Team registration for the 22-23 SVKW Swim Season (this does not include the pool membership). We’ll also have some smaller items to raffle off as well. The proceeds will help us replace some aging pool equipment such as pool lines, starter platforms, and the ancient timing system.

Donations of Raffle items are being accepted if you know a business or friends who would like to donate items or gift cards to their business. Contact us for details on how to donate.

Swim Team Venmo Account

Make sure you SCAN the Venmo code at the location you are at instead of selecting from your history to make sure you’re using the right acct. As a reminder:

Use the SV POOL account at the snack bar

The SWIM TEAM Venmo looks like this and is used to pay for Spirit Wear merchandise, our separate concessions table items, car wash vouchers, and raffle tickets.

Thank you from Rachel Levesque:

Thank you to our wonderful swim families for all the donations and help for the coaches' luncheon! Lauren you were missed! The coaches had a great time!  I also want to take the opportunity to say thank you to all the wonderful people who have helped me over the past 8 years as the social coordinator. These events wouldn't happen without the support of the best swim team families around! My time is coming to a close, but I am excited to welcome Melissa Schneider as the new Social Coordinator.

Swimmer Records:

Our Roster records prior to 2021 have been imported into SwimTopia so we can accurately track our 5-year and 10-year swimmer milestones to award them their pins.  For everyone who swam in 2019 or earlier, if you could take a minute and double-check that your swimmer has the right years logged in for them that will help make sure we don’t miss any awards this year.

To find this information: Log into SwimTopia > click on your name at the top right > select "My Account" > click on your child's name > check the Affiliation list of seasons.  Email Elizabeth Ehresman if you see any discrepancies that need to be corrected or need help finding these records.
