Hi Killer Whales,
Let the season begin! Evening practice starts TOMORROW Night (KW Schedule here and BW here).
This is your reminder to make sure you have downloaded the Swimtopia app and turned on the alert notifications. This will make sure you don't miss crucial weather and last-minute meet info.
Volunteer Updates:
As many of you have heard, we have a new role this year on the SVKW. Our Parent/Coach Liaisons, Jenny and Gina, are happy to hear all your questions and concerns that come up during practices and meets. This frees our coaches up to focus 100% on your swimmer's safety and swim goals during practices and meets.
These volunteer positions are still vacant: Can you serve? Fundraiser Coordinator and Cary City Meet Coordinator (job descriptions)
Below are a few items to note, specifically during practice times when the pool is not officially open.
See you on Deck!
The SVKW Swim Board
Swim Practice Guidelines (for KW and BW):
There will be no lifeguards at the SV Pool during the first week of practice. Therefore, the only people in the water or on the lower swim deck should be swimmers practicing with their age group under the direct supervision of swim team coaches.
This applies to the first week of practice as well as anytime the pool is not open for recreational swimming.
Bathrooms:
Parents, we need you to help monitor the state of the bathroom at practices this week, 5/22 - 5/26
SV Pool graciously allows the swim team the use of the bathrooms during practice times. However, as there have been issues in the past with kids making a mess in the bathrooms, we need parents to help keep them clean. Please monitor your kids in the restrooms; making sure there’s no trash on the floor or puddles of soap/water on the counters. The bathrooms will remain locked during practice if there are cleanliness issues this season.
On Deck Guidelines:
Swimmers are not allowed to hang out on deck for extended periods of time before/after their age group has practiced when the pool is closed for recreational swimming. Please make sure they are picked up promptly. Families waiting for multiple swimmers should also avoid hanging out on the lower pool deck. The upper deck/pool house is available for your use.
Our Red / White Meet + Team Pictures is coming up soon on June 5th. Look for a Pre-Meet email with all the details the weekend before on how to declare your swimmer (whether you attend or not), food available, parking, and more.
