Training Sessions & Volunteer Notes!
I have a lot of Volunteering News! For all families (returning and new).
- I understand that life happens, schedules change, kids get sick, work decides to send you on a trip. It makes my job extremely difficult to have people drop shifts without my knowledge, so I have closed the jobs. As soon as you know, email me ASAP, I can remove you and offer you other options. If you have a friend who can swap shifts with you, that is even better!
- Job Changes- many have reached out regarding jobs; you need to switch or still need a point. If I haven’t followed up with you, please send me a reminder email as you may have gotten lost in the shuffle.
- Forget your job assignment? It is located in swimtopia, “my account” option at the top right drop down. Every scheduled volunteer will receive an email (Sunday or Monday) prior to each swim meet with instructions for your job.
- Floater/Substitute positions - you may have already been moved into a job. We are filling all shifts now, so I know if we need families to take on another shift. Please check your account!
- Our Cary City Meet Coordinator position is still vacant. Without a volunteer in this role we can’t attend the meet. If you attended last year, please consider taking on this role. I’ll remove your current signups as this job fulfills your season points. More detailed information is here.
- Open shifts are here- if you can work one, please email me. Questions? In person is always easier, attend the Parent Meeting 10am Saturday.
As a reminder, volunteering needs for each meet:
- 62 points Home meet
- 41 points Away Meet
This doesn’t include our amazing crew who work each meet without a sign up (announcer, meet administrator, clerk of course, starter, spirit, merch….) and board members making all the things happen.
Training Sessions for: Timer, Kid Pusher, Order of Finish Judge
If you have these jobs during the season and would like to practice, please come during one of the options below.
Option 1: June 5th - Timers only
We will hold normal evening practice times during Pasta Night. Ideally your swimmer attends practice and then eats before/after. If you are a timer during the season you can practice while your kids swims. I will be there with stopwatches, you can come and go from 5-8pm.
Option 2: Red/White Meet June 6th - Timers, Order of Finish, and Kid Pusher
All three will have meetings at 5:40pm before the intrasquad meet begins. If you have any of these jobs during the season, please attend the meeting, even if you aren’t working the Red/White. Attending will give you an idea of the overall role and help understand what is expected.
Training for Timers and Order of Finish Judges will happen DURING the Red/White. This will be a very realistic scenario for training purposes. You don’t need to practice the entire meet, just a few heats to get an idea of the job. You can come and go (step away to watch your swimmer and come back to practice). More details at the 5:40pm meeting.
Thank you all so much!
Anne Hensley
