****Declaring Your Swimmer****

What a great Red & White Meet on Tuesday night, Killer Whales!

Before we send our full post-meet summary, we'd like to discuss the importance of declaring your swimmer as attending or not attending a meet.

While swimming may seem like an individual sport, please understand that, for meets, we function as a team and every swimmer affects the rest of the team.

When a swimmer does not show up for the meet without contacting anyone ahead of time, this affects:
✔️ The kid pushers, the clerk of course & the timers as gaps in lineups cause confusion
✔️ The number of heats we have in a meet
✔️ The SCORE of the meet
✔️ And most importantly, it affects every other swimmer in that age group

(If you have ever had to stand in front of a group of wide-eyed, eager little swimmer faces and tell them "I'm sorry friends - you can't swim in that relay because..." you will understand why we'd like to avoid this at all costs.)

On the flip side of this scenario, we also see a ripple effect. When a child shows up at a meet for which they were not declared, this affects:
✔️ The kid pushers, the clerk of course & the timers as they have to be added by hand on deck to all the paperwork
✔️ The number of heats we have in a meet and how late we all have to stay
✔️ The SCORE of the meet
✔️ And most importantly, it affects every other swimmer in that age group.

The deadline for declaring your swimmer is Sunday at 12 noon.

If you happen to forget, don't read the alert reminder we send you on Sunday morning, or if your schedule changes and your swimmer is now able to attend the meet, PLEASE let the coaches know ASAP and we will all do our best to accommodate them. However, we cannot promise we will be able to get them into the meet.
For these changes, please email the coaches directly at [email protected]

Our swim meets may seem chaotic but we assure you that it is an organized chaos in which we are ALL participating so please, please have the courtesy to declare your swimmers and communicate any changes you have as soon as you can.

These next 6 Tuesday nights can be some of the most magical of the summer and ones your swimmer will remember for years to come. You play the first role in allowing that to happen by accurately declaring your swimmer for each meet.

Thank you parents!

Let's go Killer Whales!
