Hello Killer Whales!
Thank you to everyone who came to our clinic this morning. We hope you feel more confident in your breaststroke skills as we approach our first away meet on Tuesday. Normally, we would have meet info for you by now on warm-up times, parking, concessions, etc but we are still waiting on that info from the host team. Keep an eye out for a part-two email between now and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, you can declare your swimmer, prepare your team spirit, practice your cheers for your fellow KW pod members, and get ready to face off against The Lochmere Monsters!
See you on Deck!
Your SVKW Board
Declare your swimmer by Sunday, Noon.
The deadline to declare your swimmer for Tuesday's meet is Sunday 6/11 at Noon. You’ll notice a slightly different format for declaring your swimmer. Hopefully, this will make it easier to not miss key info. The key thing to remember is please communicate your plans to us at all times.
- First: Declare Attending or Not Attending? We need to know which one so everyone fill this out whether you’ll be there or not.
- Second: Relays select participating (and which one) or not participating. The default is PARTICIPATING. Skipping this still will automatically sign your swimmer up for relays.
- Third: Special Case Comment Box: Swimmers will be entered in all eligible individual events automatically. Please leave a short comment if your swimmer does not want to participate in a specific event. While we hope and prefer that kids will try all events (just do your best!), we understand some are still working on strokes, endurance, and overall confidence. We want to set your kids up for success, so if they aren't ready for all strokes that is fine, let the coaches know “no fly”.
Emergencies after the Swimmer Declaration deadline - don’t be a no-show:
After the Meet entry is closed: If an emergency arises after the meet entry is closed (due to sickness or other unexpected changes), and a child will be missing all or part of the meet, please inform the coaches of the change as soon as possible by e-mailing them at: [email protected].
At the meet: if something arises and you need to suddenly leave the meet early: Coach Lauren is designated to help you alert the people that need to know. Please talk to her before leaving. This is super important to help us keep the meet running smoothly.
Check the Heat Sheet first thing at every meet.
When you arrive at the meet, please double-check the Heat Sheets for events your swimmers are entered in. Plans change, people make mistakes so double check it for accuracy. Specifically, We can’t do relays with missing kids. If you accidentally signed up or see a mistake on the Heat Sheet and must miss an event, please make arrangements Coach Lauren before you leave.
Pre-Meet Warm Up + Volunteer Schedule (part one)
As a general goal, plan to arrive by 5:00 pm so you have time to park and set up before warm-ups start.
For away meets in general:
- Warm-up time is 5:25 pm and all meets start at 6:00 pm.
- Volunteers should check in by 5:30 pm, at the latest.
Volunteers: watch your email for a note from Anne on specifics and reminders.
SV Volunteer Needs:
All Volunteer shifts are FILLED! You will receive an email from Anne today if you are scheduled to work Tuesday. Please read it for important information and instructions.
Morning Practice starts on Monday (schedule):
Fingers crossed for warmer weather but either way morning practices starts 6/12. Please remember that during morning practice the pool is closed to swimmers and there are no lifeguards. For safety, the only people that should be in the pool (or near it) are the swimmers practicing with their age group and should not linger around on the pool deck before/after practice.
Mark your calendars for next Saturday, 6/17, to attend our Butterfly Stroke Clinic for ages 7+. This takes the place of practice and no sign-up is required.
