Hello Killer Whales!
You started off the swim season with a fantastic splash Tuesday Night. Great job on cheering on your teammates and putting your best effort into your events! It was a close race but your hard work paid off and our Killer Whales chased the Lochmere Monsters back to their underwater cave with a 15-point lead!
Our final score was Lochmere Monsters 247 and SV Killer Whales 262.
Give your teammates a high five when you see them and keep up the good work this week at practice as we prep for our next meet.
See you on Deck!

Picking up Award Ribbons after Meets
By Friday ribbons and prizes should be in your family folder each week. Check your folders weekly for your Personal Best (ages 12 and under) and Meet Placement (all ages) ribbons. You can ask the life guards for the box if it's not out at practice.
If you think you’re missing a personal best ribbon, or have other questions, please contact Lily Wan: [email protected]
Additional Little Whales Practice Helpers
Calling all 11-18 aged Swimmers! Do you love hanging out with the younger SVKW swimmers and getting to know them? Then we'd love to get some extra hands to volunteer to help out during their practice times. This volunteer spot is a great opportunity to get experience mentoring younger kids and would look great on any future job applications.
Sign up here to help with either the 6/unders or 7-8s practice times.
Coach Highlight:
Over the next few weeks we'll be highlighting your coaching team with some fun trivia facts. This week's spotlight is on:
Head Coach: Meg Giuliano (Bio)
How old were you when you joined your first swim team? I first joined the Killer Whales when I was 7 years old!
What made you want to coach the SVKW? I started helping out with practices when I turned 13 and realized how much I loved it. It was so cool to learn not just about how to swim the strokes, but how to teach them to all types of kids as well.
What is your favorite event to swim? My favorite individual events are the 100 back and 50 free, but I absolutely love both the medley and free relays because of how loud everybody gets when they’re cheering.
Which stroke took you the longest to master? Definitely breaststroke. I still have a lot of room to improve in that stroke because it’s also one of my least favorites.
What is your favorite at-the-pool food/drink? Right now, the pineapple-flavored popsicles. Those are great, especially on a really hot day. I also love the Uncrustables, but I haven’t seen them this year, which is probably a good thing - I’d eat them all.
What’s something coming up this season that you’re excited for? I’m super pumped for the Cary City Meet! I love dressing up for the themes and seeing the kids swim against a bunch of different teams. It’s a long day for us coaches, but it’s a great time. I’m also really looking forward to the ice cream social - that’s always a good day!
