Hi Killer Whales!
Thanks to everyone who braved the weather and came out for the meet on Tuesday. Hopefully, you were able to make a few more friends on the team as you shared tents to stay dry. It was a close and exciting meet, most every event had heart-racing finishes. In the end the Alligators won, but we're so proud of the effort you displayed.
Our final score is Alligators 264 and Killer Whales 250.
Great Job Killer Whales. Keep up what you're doing.
Side note on events: Our ice cream social has been postponed until next Thursday night and look for news about our upcoming Cary City Meet!
See you on Deck!

Volunteer Thanks + Make Up Notes!
Thank you to all the Volunteers who worked in the rain! A few updates after 2 meets. If you signed up for the substitute job, you will be working. I’m very much relying on those people to fill vacancies. Plan to work! If you have dropped shifts due to schedule conflicts and do not have 4 points, I’ve updated my needs here. You MUST send me your replacement date/job from the list. Please don’t make me chase you down.
Coach Highlight: Emmarose DeCaro, Assistant Head Coach
Both Meg and Emmarose bring a wealth of coaching experience to our team and we're glad they've made SVKW their home team!
1. How old were you when you joined your first swim team? I joined the team when I was 4 years old!
2. What made you want to coach the SVKW? I started out as an assistant under Coach Margaret who taught me everything that I know. I’ve been on the coaching staff ever since.
3. What is your favorite event to swim? My best event is both the 100 back and 200 back but I absolutely love the 50 free and back.
4. Which stroke took you the longest to master? Butterfly was the hardest for me as naturally I was more of a breaststroker when I was younger. When I grew up freestyle and backstroke was more my jam and I struggled with stamina for butterfly.
5. What is your favorite at-the-pool food/drink? At this moment I’m a big fan of popcorn and sour candies. That goes for off the deck too:)
6. What’s something coming up this season that you’re excited for? I’m also super pumped for the Cary City Meet! I really dressing up for the themes like Coach Meg while seeing the kids swim against a bunch of different teams. It’s a long day for us coaches, but it’s a great time for us to have fun with each other.
7. What is your full swimming/coaching background outside of shepherds vineyard? When I turned 8 I started doing year-round swimming and was a part of two separate swim clubs. I continued my competitive career when I went off to college for all 4 years that I attended the school. After I graduated I came and was head coach alongside Meg, then got a job after the summer at Triangle Swim School as a lead swim instructor for 6 months before starting an internship outside of the swimming world.
