Hi Killer Whales!

Thanks for your patience as we've worked out a few additional details for this meet that delayed this email!

Shout out to ALL of the volunteers who came together to make it possible for our Killer Whales to participate in Cary City Meet last Saturday. THANK YOU to all of our Kid Pusher and Timer volunteers and to the Dream Team of Decorators - MarAnna, Ruth, Cheryl, Kara & Meredith who put together our fun Under the Sea decorations and spent Friday evening decorating the tent for all of the kids and their families. THANK YOU ALL!!!!

This week we will be swimming against the Walden Creek Wahoos. We look forward to hanging with all of our swim team families this week for our last meet of the season! It's been a great year for us, thanks for being such awesome Killer Whales!

While our meets are winding down, there are still lots of things happening in the next two weeks to hang with your team! Make sure you RSVP for the two end-of-year events (on the sign-up page) and come join us for our upcoming Spirit nights (details below).

Let's Go Killer Whales!

SVKW Board

7/18 Meet Volunteer Needs:

6 Total Volunteers Still Needed: 1 Timer First Half (Dolphin Timing System), 3 Timers Second Half (THREE needed), 9-10 Boy Kid Pusher, 7-8 Boy Kid Pusher

Contact Anne if you can fill one of these spots.

As we wrap up our season, please check your account for your family volunteer points. You should have 4 points for the season. There are 135 Families and only 1 volunteer coordinator, tracking those families down who owe points is a lot of work. Please help us finish this season strong and do your part.

Emergencies after the Swimmer Declaration deadline reminders:

  • Pre-meet: if an emergency arises and a child will be missing all or part of a meet please inform the coaches of the change as soon as possible by e-mailing them at: [email protected].
  • At the meet if something arises at the meet and you need to suddenly leave: It is crucial that the parent goes to the coaches to let them know that their child is leaving.

Please do not leave without telling the coaches your child will not be swimming any more events - especially in the case of relays.

Sky Zone (Defy Gravity) Spirit Night: 7/20

It's always a sad day when swim practice comes to a close. We miss seeing everyone on deck. Come join your teammates on 7/20 at Sky Zone Apex from 6 pm - 8 pm to extend our team fun a bit longer.

Pre-Meet Warm Up + Volunteer Schedule

Volunteers: watch your email for a note from Anne on specifics and reminders.

Our SVKW Warm up times for away meets start at 5:25pm. Arriving earlier than this to get set up and ready to go on time is strongly advised. Here's the timeline for when you need to be where!

  • Volunteers, check-in as you arrive, by 5:30pm at the latest.
  • 5:25 pm: SVKW Warm-Ups
  • 5:45pm: All Volunteer meetings (ask for location when you check-in)
  • 5:55pm: Team cheer with all swimmers.
  • 5:55pm: 7-8 medley relays line up, all other relay swimmers should stay close by and be ready to go.

Meet Information:

TSA Rep: Make sure to find your SVKW TSA Rep if you have any concerns or issues that arise with the other team during our meet. Please refrain from bringing up issues directly with the opposing team coaches, swimmers, and parents.

Adult Relay: There will be a Coaches AND Parent Relay at this meet after breaststroke. If you're interested in participating email: [email protected] and we'll sign you up!

Location: Walden Creek Pool: 2207 Walden Creek Drive, Apex

Parking The parking lot is reserved for your team. Avoid parking in the two spots near the entrance of the pool reserved for our food delivery runners. We encourage carpooling. Street parking is available, however, park only on the sidewalk side of the street, this allows the neighbors and emergency vehicles a path to get through.

Seating: Our pool has fixed awnings for both sides of the pool.  The visitor's side is directly across the gate past the mushroom near the concessions window. There is some room on the deck for tents. Please ensure a path is preserved in front of the awning for circulation. We have men's and women's changing/shower rooms if you need them.

Concessions: We offer concessions where we sell pizza by the slice, Chick-Fil-A, and other pre-packaged goods, candy, water, sports drinks, and soda. No Alcoholic beverages allowed.
