SVKW Registration + Volunteer Role Update + New Family Q&A

Hello Killer Whales!

Registration for the SVKW Team and Beluga Whales opens tomorrow at 7:00 am.

Starting May 8th, these team emails will only go to those who have registered. Here are a few checklist reminders to make sure you're prepared for tomorrow's big day:

  • I've paid the 2024 SV Pool Membership fee
  • I've read through the different volunteer jobs and asked all my questions.*
  • I've made a note of which meets I can volunteer at so I can complete my registration OR I've been approved to fill a season-long job.

*Families will be required to sign up for 4 volunteer points before you can complete your registration. If for some reason we don't meet our minimum registration count, we'll need to increase this to 5 points per family. Thank you for serving willingly!

If you have any questions before or during registration you can contact:

Volunteer Jobs Still Open to Qualify Our Team:

Thanks to those who jumped on filling roles already. We still have these roles open in order to qualify the Killer Whales for meets under TSA Rules.  Details about each job can be found here: https://shepherdsvineyard.swimtopia.com/resources.  Please don't be shy about volunteering if you feel you lack experience or it sounds overwhelming. Training is provided and much grace is given for learning curves! There are many moving parts but also many people willing to offer guidance along the way.

Season-long- Training Provided!

  1. Volunteer Coordinator Co-Chair
  2. Stroke and Turn Judge
  3. Order of Finish Judge
  4. Meet Administrator (software for lane assignments and scoring)
  5. Social Co-Chair (not required for meets but do your kids scream for ice cream and pasta and all the fun team events? Help make that happen by signing up for this role).

Home meets only- Training Provided!

  1. Starter (train for next year)
  2. Time Drop Managers (our new timing system)

New Families Q&A Event: THIS Saturday, May 4, 10am - 11am

Come join us for an informal event in the SV Pool Parking Lot to meet some of the swim board members, coaches, and ask them all your questions. This event is intended for new families who have just joined the Killer Whales or Beluga Whales, but anyone with questions is welcome to come by. It’s a great time to meet and talk to those running the swim team, understand the various volunteer jobs, and tell us about any special skills you’d like to offer the team.

Returning Members: Welcome Back Party details coming soon

We hope to see you on Deck!
