Hello Killer Whales!
Congrats on completing your first meet of the season! We hope this meet has made you super excited for the rest of the year. In case you were keeping track of the score, it was a victory for the SV Killer Whales! Everyone did an amazing job of swimming their best. Here on out, after each meet, we’ll send out records and personal best top scores. The highest time drop in each age group/stroke receives a prize.
Practice, Practice, Practice before our first home meet next week against the Olive Chapel Otters!. Reminder: there is no practice on Friday and Saturday evenings. Saturday morning practice this weekend follows the normal morning practice schedule and we’ll be focusing on Stroke Rate during practice. Weekday morning practices start on Wednesday, 6/12.
Tuesday’s 6/11 meet entry is open. Take a moment now to declare your swimmer attending/not attending the 6/11 HOME Meet and available/not available for Relays before Sunday Noon. We’ll send out a pre-meet email in the next few days with specific information for Tuesday’s meet.
See you on the Pool Deck!

Red / White Meet Recap:
Swimmers of the Week: Congrats to Brecken Dortch (8) and Mia Friend (6) for being chosen as our swimmer of the week!
At each meet, the Coaches collectively choose one male and one female swimmer of the week. Some of the things the coaches look for are:
- Behavior and Attitude: highest standards for behavior and manners at all swim team functions; positive attitude regarding all swimming-related programs
- Effort: demonstrate a resilient, consistent, hard-work ethic both in and out of the pool
- Attendance: attends practice regularly; participates in meets consistently
- Learning: demonstrates excellent listening skills; responsiveness to instruction; improved skill development
- Organization: demonstrates independence; self-motivator; arrives on time; has all "equipment"
- Teamwork: demonstrates excellent teamwork helping all teammates; cheers for other swimmers during events.
- (Swimmer of the week criteria on website):
Swimmer Times (Where Are They?)
Once we get swimmer times loaded into the system, you will be able to view all of the swimmers’ times in SwimTopia. (Typcially by the end of the day Thursday.) With the free version, you should be able to see times once everyone’s times are entered and collectively published after the meet (we do not anticipate being able to enter swimmer times live at the meets so adding a PRO acct may or may not work at the meet. It varies).
To find the times in SwimTopia APP:
- Log in and Tap on “Past Events” under the Upcoming Bar
- Tap on the Meet you want to view (“Red-White Intrasquad Meet”)
- Click on the drop down arrow for “Events of Interest” and you should see a list of your swimmers events and times (you might have to select “SV Killer Whales” the first time)
On a computer: Log in to Swimtopia website > “My Account” > Click your child’s name > click on an event. The latest meet should be at the top of the list.
National Anthem Singers:
Shout out to Greyden Snoke for an amazing job of singing the National Anthem at our Red/White meet. Who wants to be the next SVKW star singer? We are looking for kids or parents who would like to volunteer to sing the National Anthem at the remaining home meets this summer (June 11, 18 and July 9). It can be individuals or a small group/family. Email us to sign up!
Withdrawing Your Swimmer Deadline
Registration fees are refundable through 6/10. Please email us at [email protected] if you need to withdraw your swimmer. Because the team has to absorb a number of fixed costs regardless of enrollment, no refunds will be honored after 6/10
MOR Clinic Opportunity on 6/23
The Marlins of Raleigh have invited our swimmers to register for their DIVE and STARTS clinic. Click on the flier below to sign up (there is a fee to participate - the flier is also attached).
Romeo's Pizza for 6/11 Meet
Back by popular demand, Romeo's Pizza will be on site for the 6/11 Meet. Attached is their flier with pre-ordering instructions (highly recommended to cut down on wait times).
