Hi Killer Whales!
That was an exciting first Meet! The Otters thought they could use camouflage to masquerade as friendlies, to put you off your game, but you didn’t let their familiar team colors fool you. Our final score was Killer Whales 307 and Otters 206. We are so proud of our Killer Whales, both for your hard work and for how you’ve conducted yourself at this meet. You’ve made your coaches, parents, and swim board proud!
We’re tweaking our new timing system this week and working out some kinks that we think, and hope, will make subsequent meets more time efficient. Thanks for your patience with a longer meet this past week! We hope you had a great time.
Check your family folders at the lifeguard station for your Personal best and top winners ribbons. They should be in there by the end of the day Sunday.
The 6/18 Meet is Open. Go ahead and declare your swimmers now: attending/not attending and available/not available for relays, to meet the Sunday noon deadline.
See you on Deck!

Cary City Meet: July 13 Save the Date
This is a super fun event with a long history of bringing together all of the summer swim teams from the Cary/Apex area. We pick a theme, decorate, dress up, and have a day full of swimming events and team bonding time. Save the Date and come join us! More details coming soon.
Special Swimmer Entrance at Home Meets
Last year we received multiple requests to mimic a special swimmer entrance on home meets that a few other teams do. A group makes a tunnel with their hands, then cheers as the swimmers make a grand entrance through it. We’d like to give this a try at next week's home meet, see how we like it!
- 12 and under SVKW swimmers: at 5:45pm, meet up OUTSIDE the west-facing back gate and group up between there and the baby pool fence. You’ll be entering through the "tunnel".
- 13 and up SVKW Swimmers: at 5:55 pm form a tunnel between there and just inside the back gate (the line position will be marked by orange cones)!
- Parents, who are not in volunteer meetings, are welcome to join the tunnel if there’s room in the line. When the team is announced (right before the National Anthem) the tunnel crew will cheer while younger swimmers jog in and gather under the white SVKW team tents.
Swimmers, if this sounds confusing, simply meet up outside the west-facing back gate at 5:45 pm and follow instructions from there (the gate near the diving boards)! There will be people directing you where to go and when to enter!
