7/2 Cary City Meet deadline and Swimmer Needs

Attention Killer Whale families!
We have unexpectedly found out that the deadline for Cary City Meet registration is very soon! As a reminder, the meet is on Saturday, July 13th, at the Scottish Hills pool.

All CCM sign ups are required to be in by this Tuesday, July 2nd, at 9:30am (declare your swimmers on the sign up calendar the same way you would for a regular meet)

Individual events cost $6. Payment will be collected after sign up is closed. Relays are free (covered by SVKW team). Please Note that 6 and unders must also swim the full 25 yards.

We still need more swimmers in ALL age groups, so please consider signing up! Talk  to your fellow swim team families this weekend and come join us! In line with our tie dye event this week, this year's SVKW tent theme for the Cary City Meet will be "Tie Dye, Peace, and Love". Swimmers can wear their new tie dyed shirts they made, or come in any other tie dyed pieces they may own! Any other clothing or costumes in this theme are encouraged as well! (Wearing no costume is fine also if your swimmer prefers not to dress up!) A team of volunteers will decorate the tent in this theme the night before the meet so that it's a festive occasion for all.

If you are still on the fence about whether to attend, here are some good reasons!

  • The Cary City Meet is an extra large swim meet with many area pools in attendance.
  • Pools decorate their tents in various fun themes.
  • Ages 10 and under swim in the morning and ages 11+ swim in the afternoon.
  • Ages 6 and under are limited to two individual events, and ages 7+ are limited to three individual events. YOU get to choose which events to swim!
  • Swimmers are placed into heats according to their personal best swim times, so every race is appropriately fun and challenging.
  • The top 16 swimmers in each age group/stroke earn points for their pool and are awarded ribbons or medals!
  • We need more relay swimmers! Relays are super fun, and we'd REALLY love to have enough swimmers to form a relay team in each age group. Last year some kids had no relay options and were sad! The cost of relay participation is free, covered by the swim team.
  • There will also be food trucks, music, goodie bags, and games. It's like an all-day party. :)
