Important Notes Following Our Meet vs. Preston Village
June 12th
Killer Whale Parents,
We’ll be sharing some fun highlights from last night’s meet in the coming days, but first, we need to address a few important issues that came up at Tuesday’s meet. We know this was our first dual meet of the season—some families are brand new, and others may be a little rusty—but these are key concerns that need to be addressed now to avoid problems later.
NO ALCOHOL POLICY
Reminder: The TSA League strictly prohibits alcohol at swim meets.
- If anyone from our team is caught with alcohol, our entire team will be disqualified and we will forfeit the meet.
- Some host pools perform cooler checks, so please plan accordingly.
Leaving Meets Early
Volunteers:
- If your role is scheduled for the full meet, please plan to stay until the end.
- On Tuesday night, several Kid Pushers left early, which left other volunteers scrambling and created a lot of confusion for the kids swimming relays.
- If you cannot stay until the end of meets, please look for different volunteer jobs now, or talk to our Volunteer Coordinators when you arrive at the meet if you need to find coverage for the end of the meet.
- If an emergency comes up during a meet and you need to leave, please find a replacement or ask for help. Just walking away from your assigned duties is not okay.
Swimmers:
- We had at least one swimmer leave before the Free Relays, which caused her team’s relay to be disqualified.
- Relays are posted in the app and on the team board at the meet—please check upon arrival if you're unsure whether your child is in a relay.
- A swimmer who no-shows for a second meet will not be eligible to swim in relays at the following meet.
Free Relays and Late Events
We understand that meets will likely run past 10:00 PM this season.
- Free Relays are the last events of the night.
- Swimmers ages 7 and up may be placed in Free Relays.
- If you know you will need to leave early, do NOT sign up your swimmer for free relays (and possibly Butterfly as it is also late in the meet).
- When registering for each meet, you can opt out of one or both relays and use the Coach Notes section to indicate stroke preferences or availability.
- Please opt out for ALL swimmers in your family if everyone will be leaving early
- Pulling swimmers last-minute without notifying the coaches causes disruption and disappointment—especially for the teammates who remain.
We appreciate your cooperation as we work to make this a successful and enjoyable season for everyone!
Thank you,
SVKW Board
