Happy Weekend, Killer Whales!

Thank you for braving the heat and supporting your team at Tuesday night's meet! Our final score was Lochmere Monsters 277 and Killer Whales 228. While the Monsters propelled ahead in the end, the close scores are a result of you giving it your all from start to finish. The Monsters had to fight extra hard for this win. We are super proud of your commitment to the team and your sportsmanship.

We hope to see you at our first Fun Friday practice from 9 am to 10:15 am tomorrow morning.  We also have the TAC Streamline, Underwaters, and Turns Clinic and Q&A scheduled this Saturday (details and practice times under Upcoming Events/on the SignUp Calendar).

See you on Deck!

Volunteers of the Week from our Volunteer Coordinators:

We had 100% of our volunteers arrive and work their shift at our 6/24 meet.  A big thank-you to Angela for stepping in at the Meet Admin table and making sure all swimmer changes were recorded and DQ slips entered. This behind-the-scenes role is essential to keeping our meets running smoothly and on time. Interested in learning more about the Meet Admin role (yes, it comes with a chair, shade tent, and a fan)? Reach out to our Volunteer Coordinators—we’d love to get you trained and ready to go.

A special shout-out (from our 6/10 meet) also goes to Richard, who plays a crucial role in making sure our kids are at the blocks on time and in the correct order for every meet. He’s been dedicated to this position for a few years and always helps make it a fun time for the kids. What’s truly remarkable is that he still shows up to support the team, even when his own child isn’t competing. Richard, thank you for consistently going above and beyond!

Meet Ribbons: Please make sure to pick up your ribbons from your family folder!  You can ask for the file box from the concession attendant or the lifeguard front desk personnel anytime you’re at the pool. Ribbons are typically filed on Fridays. If you think you’re missing a ribbon or have other questions, please contact our ribbon coordinator, Lily Wan

A Special Thank You to Coach Meg at the July 8th Home Meet:

(A note from Lesley, our SVKW Chair)

To all of you whose kids had the opportunity to work with Coach Meg over the past few summers, we wanted to share some special news.

We have invited Coach Meg to return for our Senior Night Meet on July 8th so the swim team can properly thank her for her three years of service as Head Coach.

Meg stepped into the Head Coach role unexpectedly in 2022 when the previous coach departed suddenly. Not only did she lead the team through three summer swim seasons, but she also spent many years as a Killer Whale swimmer herself - making her contribution even more meaningful.

Because the coaching transition to Coach Jim happened during the offseason, the team didn’t have a chance to recognize Meg or give her a proper sendoff at the end of the 2024 season.

We know that Coach Meg made a lasting impact on many of our swimmers, coaches, and families. If your kids would like to make something special to show their appreciationsuch as writing a note, drawing a picture, or sending a card — we’re sure Meg would be thrilled. Other gifts are welcome but completely optional and at your discretion. If you will not be at the July 8th meet, you can bring your cards/etc to the July 1st meet. We'll have a few posters that swimmers can sign as well.

Thank you for helping us give Coach Meg the farewell she deserves!
