Hello Killer Whales
Have you double-checked your swimmer declarations? Make sure you're signed up to swim at our final home meet of the season! We'll be swimming against the Dutchman Downs Dolphins on 7/8. Our theme for this meet is a Hawaiian Luau. Pack your Leis and a tropical fruit to snack on.
At this meet, we'll honor our SVKW seniors. Coach Meg will also be attending, and we will present her with a gift, cards, and a final send-off we didn't have the opportunity to do last July. If you have time, have your swimmers make a card or picture for our seniors and Coach Meg (further details below) to bid them both farewell.
On sale during this meet are Tidal Wash Vouchers, Raffle Tickets (see info below), and you'll have your final chance to purchase spirit wear. Think back-to-school sweatshirts and Christmas presents. We are also collecting raffle items if you know of a person or business that would like to donate.
Our food trucks this week are Romeo's Pizza (please pre-order!) and the Salt and Pepper Food Truck.
Let's Go Killer Whales!
SVKW Swim Board
Volunteer Needs:
We need one 7-8 Kid Pusher, one 9-10 Kid Pusher, and 2-3 substitutes for this meet! Kid Pushers must be able to stay until the last relay of the meet. If you have not yet filled your 4 family credits, this is the time to sign up to do so! You can sign up for the jobs when you check your child's declaration.
Reminder: Emergencies after the Swimmer Declaration Deadline:
Make sure you keep communicating if your plans change before Tuesday. We know life happens despite the best planning. If an emergency arises due to sickness or injury after the meet declaration deadline, here’s who to contact. Please communicate and don't be a no-show! Alot of work goes into running a timely and smooth meet and we appreciate timely communication.
- After the Sunday noon deadline but before 3 pm Tuesdays: if your swimmer will be missing all, or part of a meet please inform the coaches of the change as soon as possible by emailing them at: [email protected].
- After 3:00 pm Tuesday (or at the meet): If you cannot attend at all, please email the coaches AND text a friend to tell them when they arrive. Coaches may/may not get emails after 3 pm Tuesdays once they are en route to the pool, so as many people as know, the better. If you are at the pool already, please inform the coaches if you need to leave suddenly.
- Volunteer Coordination Team: If any of the above occurs and you are also serving, please contact our volunteer team to help assist you in stepping out of your duties.

7/8 Meet Information:
Location: SV Pool (Home Meet)
Theme: Hawaiian Luau.
Bring: sharpie, lawn chairs, snacks, towels, warm clothing for chilly nights, goggles, swim cap, and maybe UNO or another game to keep young ones occupied, lots of hydrating drinks and snacks.
Parking: The SV pool lot is reserved for the visiting team. Our team parks only on the street. When you park, please be considerate of the pool neighbors and do not block any resident's driveways, fire hydrants, or the greenway crosswalk. Carpooling is highly recommended due to the limited parking.
Seating: SVKW Seating is available around the right side of the pool deck entrance and outside of the fence. The visiting team sets up on the left side swing/grill area. Please bring your own folding chairs since we clear the deck of most of the pool tables and chairs. Shade tents are allowed outside the back gate. If you are using body art of some kind, including Sharpie images on your back, please use your own chairs, and not the pool chairs, to keep them stain free.
Concessions: We have multiple food truck options this week!
- Salt and Pepper Food Truck: You can check out their menu, and pre-order (when/if it opens up) online the day before here: https://streetfoodfinder.com/SaltAndPepper (click on "view event menu" next to the July 8 SV Swim event).
- Romeo's Pizza will also be on site again. It is highly recommended to pre-order Romeo's before 4:30 pm on Tuesday by calling the number on the flyer. They bring a limited amount of pepperoni and cheese pizza's but they sell out fast.
The SV Pool Snack Bar will have their normal assortment of snacks and drinks. TSA Rules prohibit alcoholic beverages at all swim meets. Our team will be disqualified if it's found on-site so please leave it at home.
Check Posterboard Heat Sheets when you arrive:
When you arrive at the meet, double-check the physical posterboard heat sheets on the diving board (not just the app). Big Whales: check your LW heat sheets to see if they are swimming this meet, and when.
TSA Liaison Role: Each swim team has a TSA representative who acts as a liaison between the two swim teams (and SVKW coaches/parents) during a meet. If you have concerns or conflicts that arise during the meet, please refrain from discussing these issues directly with the opposing team's coaches, swimmers, and parents, as well as the SVKW Coaches. Our TSA Reps are there to help you resolve any issues that may arise.
Cards for Coach Meg and the Seniors:
Bring any cards or gifts (optional) for Meg this Tuesday night, July 8th. We'll be presenting her with them during the swim meet. Our seniors will also be honored and if your children want to color them a picture as well, they are welcome to do so!
