Hi Killer Whales!

It’s hard to believe but we’re swimming our last meet of the season tomorrow night against the Olive Chapel Otters. This is an away meet, and the details for location, parking, and concessions are provided below. Here are some highlights to note!

Volunteers: We are super thankful for the willingness of our parents to step up this season. Let’s finish strong! Please note the volunteer check-in time (by 5:25pm) and needs for this meet below.

Raffle Note from OC: Get ready to test your luck with our 50/50 raffle fundraiser during the meet! Bring your cash and purchase tickets for a chance to win half of the total pot. Good luck to all participants!

7/15 Meet Volunteer Notes:

Our volunteer coordinators need ALL Volunteers checked in by 5:25pm for this meet. It’s recommended you plan to arrive by 5:00 pm to have time to both check in and set up your families space before you need to be on task.

Volunteer needs: We still need three volunteers for this event!  A 7-8 Boy and a 9-10 Girl Kid pusher! We are also looking for a volunteer to work with Olive Chapel to help sticker the ribbons during the meet. If you would be able to help out, reach out to the volunteer coordinators.

Reminder: Emergencies after the Swimmer Declaration Deadline:

Make sure you keep communicating if your plans change before Tuesday.  If an emergency arises due to sickness or injury after the meet declaration deadline, here’s who to contact.

  • After the Sunday noon deadline but before 3 pm Tuesdays: if your swimmer will be missing all, or part of a meet please inform the coaches of the change as soon as possible by emailing them at: [email protected].
  • After 3:00 pm Tuesday (or at the meet): If you cannot attend at all, please email the coaches AND text a friend to tell them when they arrive. Coaches may/may not get emails after 3 pm Tuesdays once they are en route to the pool, so as many people as know, the better. If you are at the pool already, please inform the coaches if you need to leave suddenly.
  • Volunteer Coordination Team: If any of the above occurs and you are also serving, please contact our volunteer team to assist you in stepping out of your duties.

Pre-Meet Warm Up + Volunteer Schedule

  • Volunteers: ALL volunteers please arrive by 5pm to set up and be checked in by 5:25pm.
  • 5:30 pm SVKW Warm-Ups. Please arrive earlier than this to set up / check the heat sheets.
  • 5:45 pm: Meetings for the officials and timers will take place behind the starter.

7/15 Meet Information:

If you run into a need for swim caps or goggles during the meet, please find Ruth Keen. We'll have limited stock of these for $20 each. 

Heat Sheets: Make sure you double check the printed Heat Sheets when you arrive for any last minute changes.  Big Whales: Check your Little Whale events!

TSA Liaison Role: Each swim team has a TSA representative who acts as a liaison between the two swim teams (and SVKW coaches/parents) during a meet. If you have concerns or conflicts that arise during the meet, please refrain from discussing these issues directly with the opposing team's coaches, swimmers, and parents, as well as the SVKW Coaches. Find our TSA Reps, who are there to help you resolve any issues that may arise.

Location1221 Ainsley Woods Place, Apex, NC 27502. We’re located off Olive Chapel Road, and the easiest way to enter is through the Dogwood Ridge neighborhood via White Dogwood Road.
Parking: The pool parking lot will be available to your team, but please note that space is limited. We've attached more detailed parking information, especially helpful for anyone who may need to park on nearby streets.
Visitor Team Setup: Your team’s area is located on the left side of the pool deck as you enter. Please bring your own folding chairs and tents for shade.
Concessions: The Otters Café will be open and offering pizza, chicken sandwiches, snacks, and drinks. We accept cash, Zelle, and Venmo (please note: Venmo includes a small service fee). Hot food will be available beginning around 5:00–5:15 PM. Hot food is first-come, first-served.

Upcoming Events:
  • 7/19 Beluga Mini-Meet, 9am - 10am
  • 7/19 Awards Ceremony at Hope Church, 2:00pm. Returning swimmers: find your team medal on the red ribbon to wear at the ceremony.  We'll send out the program and more details later this week. Please RSVP Attending OR Not Attending to help us prepare accordingly and order enough cupcakes!
