Good Morning Killer Whales!

This week is a newsy one for our Home Meet against the Abbington Alligators on Tuesday.  They might look prehistoric and experienced, but they are no match for your Killer Whale speed and agility. During the meet, we'll be honoring our SVKW SeniorsRigs Helmedag and Ivy Nuss. Your swimmers can participate by bringing them a card or picture to celebrate their dedication to the Killer Whales.

Our Theme for this week is RedWhite, and Blue so come decked out to show your USA spirit.

Coach Rosemary will be managing the swimmer changes this week. After the Sunday Noon deadline, please email her if an emergency arises and you need to pull your swimmer from the meet ([email protected]).

Finally, you'll also notice some new parking signs on Carriage Ridge Way. Read on below to find out more details.

Let's go, Killer Whales!

SVKW Swim Board

------

Don't forget to declare your swimmer for Tuesday's meet by noon today!

Reminder: Emergencies after the Swimmer Declaration Deadline:

If an emergency arises due to sickness or injury after the meet declaration deadline, you can contact the below. It is very important that you communicate changes as they occure and avoid being a no-show. A lot of work goes into our heat sheets and we must have volunteers in place to run the meet.

  • After the Sunday noon deadline but before 3 pm Tuesdays: if your swimmer will be missing all, or part of a meet please inform Coach Rosemary of the change as soon as possible by emailing her at: [email protected]
  • After 3:00 pm Tuesday (or at the meet): If you cannot attend at all, please email Coach Rosemary AND text a friend to let them know. Coaches may/may not get emails after 3 pm on Tuesdays once they are en route to the pool, so the more people who know, the better. If you are at the pool already, please inform the coaches if you need to leave suddenly.
  • Volunteer Coordination Team: If any of the above occurs and you are also serving, please contact our volunteer team to assist you in stepping out of your duties.

Weather Updates During a Meet:

As we enter summer storm season, If the weather suddenly turns bad during a Meet, please make sure to check your Swimtopia app for instructions, don't just leave. We'll keep you updated through alerts to let you know what to do. When safe to do so, we do our best to complete the minimum events required to complete a Meet to avoid having to come back the next day to finish the meet.

6/30 Home Meet Information and Reminders:

Check the posterboard heat sheets when you arrive: When you arrive at the meet, double-check the printed posterboard heat sheets. Changes are often made last minute if swimmers have an emergency, and sometimes these sheets differ from the app. Big Whales: check your LW heat sheets to see if they are swimming this meet, and when.

As always, please reserve the pool parking lot for our visiting team

Seating:  The left side of the pool is reserved for our visiting team. Bring chairs and set up anywhere to the right of the pool, near the diving well, or outside the fense. Please remember to help protect our pool's blue chairs from stains by avoiding body art or putting a towel over the chair before you sit.

TSA Liaison Role: Each swim team has a TSA representative who acts as a liaison between the two swim teams (and SVKW coaches/parents) during a meet. If you have concerns or conflicts that arise during the meet, please refrain from discussing these issues directly with the opposing team's coaches, swimmers, and parents, as well as the SVKW Coaches. Our TSA Reps are there to help you resolve any issues that may arise.

Parents: Make sure your swimmers are on deck and ready to go at first call for their events. It’s not the kid pushers' job to come find your child for their event. We also need you to make sure your swimmers stay fully out of the pool at all times between heats. This includes dipping in toes, hands, toys, and goggles.

Swimsuit and Cap Reminders:

Please make sure swimmers only wear SVKW team swimsuits and caps during meets. Suits that match the team colors (red and black) and black swim caps can also be worn. We do not allow swimsuits or caps with other swim team logos/colors or any kind of tech swimsuits.
