Good Morning, Killer Whales!

It's a great week to be a Killer Whale. We'll be home this week, swimming against the Dutchman Downs Dolphins. These sea mammals are formidable opponents of the Killer Whales with similar survival techniques. Come ready to loudly cheer on your teammates to record-breaking swims!

Please remember that the Pool parking lot is reserved for the visiting team. Let's show them our best hospitality by keeping it free of Killer Whale cars. Below is all the new parking information to follow as well reguarding Carriage Ridge Way.

After swimming hard early in the week, come celebrate with Ice Cream Wednesday night!

Reminder: Emergencies after the Swimmer Declaration Deadline :

If an emergency arises due to sickness or injury after the meet declaration deadline, you can contact the below. It is very important that you communicate changes as they occure and avoid being a no-show. A lot of work goes into our heat sheets and we must have volunteers in place to run the meet.

• After the Sunday noon deadline but before 3 pm Tuesdays: if your swimmer will be missing all, or part of a meet please inform the coaches of the change as soon as possible by emailing them at: [email protected].
• After 3:00 pm Tuesday (or at the meet): If you cannot attend at all, please email the coaches AND text a friend to let them know. Coaches may/may not get emails after 3 pm on Tuesdays once they are en route to the pool, so the more people who know, the better. If you are at the pool already, please inform the coaches if you need to leave suddenly.
  
• Volunteer Coordination Team: If any of the above occurs and you are also serving, please contact our volunteer team to assist you in stepping out of your duties.

Weather Updates During a Meet

If the weather suddenly turns bad during a Meet, please make sure to check your Swimtopia app for instructions; don't just leave. We'll keep you updated through alerts to let you know what to do. When safe to do so, we do our best to complete the minimum events required to complete a Meet to avoid having to come back the next day to finish the meet.

7/7 Meet Information:

Check the posterboard heat sheets when you arrive: Big Whales: check your LW heat sheets to see if they are swimming this meet, and when.

Schedule:

• 5:00 pm: SVKW team warm-up
• Volunteers, check-in as you arrive, by 5:25 pm at the latest.
• 5:45 pm: Volunteer Meeting for Timers and Recorders, at the baby pool
• 5:45 pm Meet Officials Meeting: TSA Reps, Stroke and Turn, Starters, OOF, outside the main pool entry gates
• 5:45pm: Kid Pusher Meetings next to the Clerk of Course life guard stand
• Meet begins at 6:00 pm

Location: SV Pool

Parking: Please pay special attention to where we can / cannot park, in addition to city parking regulations, to avoid ticketing or towing. In order to better serve our pool neighbors, we're asking people to only park on the pool side of Carriage Ridge Way.  You'll notice new signs to help keep it from being confusing. 

Seating: The Visiting Team sits on the left side of the pool (between the shallow end and the swing). SVKW Families can put up chairs to the right of the Whale House, to the right of the pool, or outside the back gate behind the diving boards. Please avoid setting up tents on the right side of the pool due to overcrowding.

Concessions This Week:

TSA Rules prohibit alcoholic beverages at all swim meets. Our team will be disqualified if it's found on-site so please leave it at home. On-site this week is:

• Romeo's Pizza. It is highly recommended to pre-order Romeo's before 4:30 pm on Tuesday by calling the number on the flyer (attached).
• Barone Italian Grille (pre-order info here)
• Farmhouse Fizz Soda Bar
• The SV Pool Snack Bar will have an assortment of snacks and drinks

Spirit Wear:  We'll have Spirit Wear on sale at this meet.

Tickets and Vouchers: We'll be selling $30 Tidal Wash vouchers for $10 at this meet. We'll also be pre-selling Raffle Tickets for our EOY Raffle.

Parents: Make sure your swimmers are on deck and ready to go at first call for their events. It’s not the kid pushers' job to come find your child for their event. We also ask that you make sure they stay out of the pool. This includes dipping in feet, hands, toys, and caps.

TSA Liaison Role:

Each swim team has a TSA representative who acts as a liaison between the two swim teams (and SVKW coaches/parents) during a meet. If you have concerns or conflicts that arise during the meet, please refrain from discussing these issues directly with the opposing team's coaches, swimmers, and parents, as well as the SVKW Coaches. Our TSA Reps are there to help you resolve any issues that may arise.

Swimsuit and Cap Reminders:

Please make sure swimmers only wear SVKW team swimsuits and caps during meets. Suits that match the team colors (red and black) and black swim caps can also be worn. We do not allow swimsuits or caps with other swim team logos/colors or any kind of tech swimsuits.

Save the Date: 7/18 Awards Ceremony:

More info coming soon, but meanwhile, save the date! You're invited to our annual SVKW Awards Ceremony on July 18, 1 pm, at Hope Community Church, Apex. The celebration will be accompanied by raffle prizes and cupcakes.

7/8 Ice Cream Social and Bingo Night:

Join us before or after your practice times for ice cream and bingo!

7/12 Papa Murphy's Spirit Night (Apex location)
