Good Evening, Killer Whales!

This Tuesday, our season wraps up with an Away Meet, swimming against the Apex Breakers.  It will be a race to the shore the whole way, but we know you can leave them in a trail of bubbles.

In the midst of the busy day, don't let the Sunday noon deadline to declare your swimmers for this meet slip away from you.  The deadline to Upload your final photos to be considered for the EOY Slideshow is also Sunday noon.

We can't wait to hear about the fun times enjoyed and accomplishments made during tomorrow's CCM. All our regular Saturday practices are cancelled for this event.

Let's go, Killer Whales!

SVKW Swim Board

7/18 Awards Ceremony at Hope Community Church, Apex.

RSVP and Mark Your Calendars for the EOY Awards Ceremony. The doors open at 12:30 pm and the ceremony starts at 1:00 pm.  We'll send out the program and more details later this week, but for now, please RSVP Attending OR Not Attending on the Sign Up Calendar, for your whole family, to help us prepare accordingly. By Sunday noon would be helpful since we'll be ordering cupcakes first thing next week and want to make sure we have enough for everyone! RSVP's are not required to attend but they are really helpful to have.

Returning swimmers: this is your reminder to find your team medal on the red ribbon to wear to the ceremony (new swimmers will receive theirs at the ceremony).

Reminder: Emergencies after the Swimmer Declaration Deadline:

If an emergency arises due to sickness or injury after the meet declaration deadline, you can contact the below.

  • After the Sunday noon deadline but before 3 pm Tuesdays: if your swimmer will be missing all, or part of a meet please inform the coaches of the change as soon as possible by emailing them at: [email protected].
  • After 3:00 pm Tuesday (or at the meet): If you cannot attend at all, please email the coaches AND text a friend to let them know. Coaches may/may not get emails after 3 pm on Tuesdays once they are en route to the pool, so the more people who know, the better. If you are at the pool already, please inform the coaches if you need to leave suddenly.
  • Volunteer Coordination Team: If any of the above occurs and you are also serving, please contact our volunteer team to assist you in stepping out of your duties.

7/14 Meet Information:

Big Whales: check your LW heat sheets when you arrive to see if they are swimming this meet, and when.

Schedule:

  • 5:30 pm SVKW Warm-Ups
  • 5:45 pm: Volunteer Meetings.  Both TSA reps and volunteers will meet at the picnic tables at 5:45 PM
  • 6:00 pm: Start of the Meet

Location and Parking: Our pool is located in downtown Apex. The address is: 309 Holleman St., Apex. You are welcome to park in the pool parking lots. Families are also free to park along the street or at the nearby Apex Baptist Church (across from the park on Holleman St.).

Seating: The far side of the pool from the entrance (by the diving well) up to the side lifeguard chair is reserved for the visiting team. This is the shaded side of our pool. Please bring chairs! We do not have extra chairs available for seating. You are also welcome to bring shade tents. Deck space is limited, but you are welcome to set up tents and chairs on the grass outside the pool as well (near the playgrounds).

Concessions: The Apex Breakers Snack Bar will have hot dogs, drinks, candy, and snacks available. You are welcome to bring your own coolers and food as well. Please remember that no glassware or alcohol is permitted. The snack bar accepts cash, Venmo, and Zelle.
UPDATE 7/13: There will be no pizza on sale at concessions.

50/50 Raffle: The Apex Breakers will be holding a 50/50 raffle as a fundraiser during our meets. Tickets will be sold at the picnic table near the snack bar. The winning ticket will be drawn after the backstroke event.

Theme: We are looking forward to a fun night of excellent swimming, and our theme for the night is college gear if you all would like to participate.

Unfortunately, we do not have pool WiFi.

Parents:

Make sure your swimmers are on deck and ready to go at first call for their events. It’s not the kid pushers' job to come find your child for their event. We also ask that you make sure they stay out of the pool. This includes dipping in feet, hands, toys, and caps.

Caps and Goggles:

If you run into a last-minute need, we'll have a limited number of caps and goggles for sale for $20 each at the volunteer check-in table.

TSA Liaison Role:

Each swim team has a TSA representative who acts as a liaison between the two swim teams (and SVKW coaches/parents) during a meet. If you have concerns or conflicts that arise during the meet, please refrain from discussing these issues directly with the opposing team's coaches, swimmers, and parents, as well as the SVKW Coaches. Our TSA Reps are there to help you resolve any issues that may arise.
