Hello Killer Whales!
Congratulations on completing your first meet of the season! It was a bit of a rocky start for some of us - I may have had a couple of moments of “oh shoot, did we bring goggles for everyone?!" - but overall, it was a great trial run to help us work out the bumps and issues. Reminder: If you have anything to discuss regarding your swimmer/meet concerns, please make sure to contact our parent/coach liaisons: Jenna and Gina. We hope this meet has made you super excited for the rest of the year!
Tuesday’s 6/13 meet entry is open take a moment and go ahead and declare your swimmer for our first AWAY meet next week so you don’t miss the Sunday noon deadline. Read this note from the board on the importance of this task. We were able to give some grace this week but from here on out, it gets more complicated so we aren’t usually able to make post-deadline changes.
We’ll send out a pre-meet email with details as soon as we get the info from the hosting team.
Meanwhile, see you on the Pool Deck!

Swimmer Times (Where Are They?):
Once we get swimmer times loaded into the system, you will be able to view all of the swimmers’ times in the SWIMTOPIA MOBILE APP. (Our goal is to have that completed by the end of the day Thursday.) With the free version, you should be able to see times once everyone’s times are entered and collectively published. If you run into problems viewing these let us know.
To find the times in SwimTopia APP:
- Log in and select “Past Events”
- Click on the Meet you want to view (for this past meet it is: “Red- White Meet & Picture Day”)
- Next to “Swim Events”, click on the drop down arrow and select “SV Killer Whales”
- Select the event you want to see to view times.
To Find the Times on a computer via the main SwimTopia Website: Login to Swimtopia, select “My Account” > click on your child’s name > click on event to view times.
Swimmer of the Week!
Congrats to Isaac Embry and Clare O'Connell who are our Swimmers of the Week, chosen by the Coaches at each Meet. If you didn't get your special recap, check in with your coaches at the next practice.
Swimmer of the week criteria:
- Behavior and Attitude: highest standards for behavior and manners at all swim team functions; positive attitude regarding all swimming-related programs
- Effort: demonstrate a resilient, consistent, hard-work ethic both in and out of the pool
- Attendance: attends practice regularly; participates in meets consistently
- Learning: demonstrates excellent listening skills; responsiveness to instruction; improved skill development
- Organization: demonstrates independence; self-motivator; arrives on time; has all "equipment"
- Teamwork: demonstrates excellent teamwork helping all teammates; cheers for other swimmers during events; participates in a buddy program
Volunteers
Thank you to everyone who stepped in at the last minute Tuesday. We found ourselves unexpectedly short 5 Timers and 2 Kid Pushers. Thanks for helping out!!
Make-up your shift: If you had to drop a shift and do not have 4 volunteer points, please review the openings here and send an email to Anne [email protected] with the shift you can pick up.
SwimTopia App Alerts and PRO
Alerts (did you miss it?):If you found yourself showing up to swim practice Wednesday night, you may have quickly noticed you missed an alert in the SwimTopia App! Make sure you have notifications turned on (and it’s always a good idea to check the app before leaving). We use the app to notify you of changes to practice and meet schedules due to weather or other pool closures.
Note about upgrading to Swimtopia PRO: All the info you need for SVKW is accessable through the free version of SwimTopia. You do have the option to upgrade to Swimtopia Pro for a fee if you wish to see your swimmer’s times live as we enter them individually at the meet, BUT, we want to be clear that, at this time, we do not anticipate being able to add all swimmer times LIVE at the swim meets. So, this feature may not be available to you all the time. It varies.
Swim Numbers The number your swimmer was assigned at last night’s meet will be their swimmer number for the whole season.
Withdrawing Your Swimmer, deadline TOMORROW
Registration fees are refundable through TOMORROW, June 9th. Please email us at [email protected] if you need to withdraw your swimmer. Because the team has to absorb a number of fixed costs regardless of enrollment, no refunds will be honored after tomorrow, June 9th.
